Accentuating humanity, nature, and peace in the digital age.

The Appalachian Mountains are the oldest mountains in the hemisphere, among the oldest on Earth. In the words of John Denver, things are old here, even older than the trees. I, like all other living creation, will be here to experience them, and they will be here long after I, and any memory of myself is gone.

However, in any given moment, the mists and clouds and the sunlight that dances on them are making a canvas that is entirely unique, and so short lived that you can miss it in less than a minute.

In our time on this Earth, I find it incumbent upon us all to take that moment to see what is around us. We should think of what it means, and what mark we leave on these places that have outlasted all of the humanity that came before us. I feel so strongly about this, that I’ve taken to documenting and sharing these moments, so that a fragment of them can live on and be remembered.

In film, the photo simply is what it is. I offer editing to bring out some additional light and color that can be hidden within the negatives, but while these photos may be shared and altered digitally, they were created in a pure analog form, with the light of the scene transforming the chemical elements of the film in an instant.

In capturing these natural scenes, I try to document the world as it is seen through my eyes when I am living a life of outdoor recreation, adventure, and quiet contemplation. Many of these scenes invoke peaceful reflection and can bring the feeling of resting atop a high summit and looking out over the horizon to the walls of your home.
